HISTORY OF THE 'GLOBAL WEB SITE AWARD' (1996-1998)

PRESENTED 1996 - 1997The "Global Web Site Award" was created by Dr. Neil Jan Gale in 1996. The prestigious Everything Internet  Award was presented to websites that were worthy of recognition for outstanding on-line presentations.

The "Global Web Site Award" became a prestigious, highly sought after Internet Honor. At the end of 1999, website design trends changed and Internet Awards fell out of favor.

PRESENTED 1997 - 1998Many Organizations, including some Fortune 500 companies including Symantec, Central and South West Corporation, Chicago Historical Society, PeaPod, and CompuLink Online, that received this honor posted the graphic award image on their websites, some even placing it on their front/home page with a hyperlink back to Everything.Internet. There are still companies displaying the award image in their websites like the Texas-National Auctioneers, the 911 Fire Police Medical Web, and Idea Cafe.

Over 45,000 requests for award consideration were received. Not including the Awards bestowed upon organization found to have exceptional websites, less than 1/2% of requests for the "Global Web Site Award" received it.
